What does it mean to heal trauma?

We are not “healing trauma.”

We are retrieving fragmented parts of ourselves so that we can remember our wholeness; our brilliance; our original innocence.

Putting the locus of attention on the trauma is counterproductive. We feel wounded. We feel vulnerable. We feel powerless against something that cannot be changed.

When we focus on our forgotten brilliance we let the light shine in and we become equipped to access our free will and personal responsibility, and that’s how we truly get free and “heal.”

Preoccupying ourselves with the trauma itself keeps us stuck.

Each memory functions to show us where a part of us fragmented in the face of trauma or as a reminder of our innocence.

Go into those memories. Search your dreams. Find every part of you that you lost in the moments you allowed your attention to divert from your innocence to your trauma.

Realize your wholeness once again.

Become love.
